HACKING FACEBOOK MULTI PRODUCT AD
When Facebook launched Multi Product ad in 2014, the product team’s vision was to create an ad unit which enabled advertisers to showcase multiple products in one ad units (i.e. handbags in several colors). I saw this as too limiting because in the end, this product, unlike other existing ad products, had multiple panels to play with. I put together below deck to showcase many other possible applications for this ad unit and showed it to the product team along with the recommendation to change the product name from “Multi Product” to “Carousel” which they did. Then we scaled this deck externally with ad agencies and brands to help them look at this ad unit with a more creative / narrative lens.
